Jose Mourinho revealed that his dog died on Christmas Day during an emotional pre-match interview before Tottenham’s clash with Brighton on Boxing Day.
The Yorkshire Terrier named Leya has been part of Mourinho’s family for at least 12 years.
But less than an hour before Spurs’ Premier League fixture against Brighton, Mourinho fought back the tears as he delivered the sad news.
Asked if he had a good Christmas, Mourinho told Amazon Prime: ‘No, not really.
‘My dog died and my dog is my family, so very difficult.
‘But we have to move on.’

Leya was made famous in 2007 when Mourinho was arrested and cautioned after an argument with police over his Yorkshire Terrier.
An animal health official wanted to quarantine the dog as they believed it had been taken to Portugal and then brought back to Britain without vaccinations.
Mourinho received a caution for obstructing police.
