“I know that, after you finish football, you are going to know what we are talking about, because I’m just so emotional right now, so I don’t think about those things too much. I just want to get started and get playing and start helping the team to do well.”
Ighalo has chosen to wear the No 25 jersey previously donned at United by fellow African star Quinton Fortune, who won three trophies during a seven-year stint in Manchester.
The 30-year-old has revealed that fact played a part in him choosing the shirt, which was most recently worn by former United captain Antonio Valencia.
“Yeah, because I watched Quinton Fortune play for Man United, he’s a great player, and I know he put it on too,” Ighalo said.
“So I said 25 is good even though I didn’t get the number I was looking for. Twenty-five is a perfect number. One above what I wore before when I was in the Premier League.”
