Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Leroy Sane from Manchester City on a five-year deal, according to reports in Germany.
Sane has long been on Bayern’s radar, with former boss Niko Kovac forced to apologise to City counterpart Pep Guardiola last year over their public pursuit of the player.
The 24-year-old’s future in Manchester was plunged into serious doubt ahead of the final year of his current contract – and with little progress being made over an extension.
And according to BILD journalist Christian Falk, Bayern have finally got their man.
Falk posted on Twitter: “announcement Leroy Sané: the Transfer to @fcbayern is done! @BILD_Sport”.
After Falk’s confirmation of the deal, Italian-based sport journalist Fabrizio Romano shed a little more light on it.
Sane is said to have put pen to paper on a five-year contract at the Allianz Arena, after City and Bayern came to a “total agreement”.
Romano wrote on Twitter: “Leroy Sané to Bayern Münich, here we go! As reported by @cfbayern total agreement has been reached between Bayern Münich and Manchester City. Paperworks time for the player – he’s going to sign until June 2025. #MCFC #Bayern #transfers”.
It is also believed Bayern have forked out £45million to prise Sane away from City just six months before they could have negotiated a free transfer for the summer of 2021.
Guardiola confirmed the youngster was looking to leave the Etihad earlier this month, four years since he arrived in a £37million switch from Schalke.
“He wants to join another club,” the City manager said. “I don’t know if he will leave this summer or next summer when his contract expires.”

He then added: “When we make an offer to a player it’s because we want him.
“He has special quality. We want players who want to play with the club to achieve targets.
“He is a nice guy and I love him so much. I have nothing against – but he wants another adventure.”
Sane has not featured for City since suffering cruciate ligament damage during their Community Shield victory over Liverpool in August of last year.
The Germany international has made a total of 135 appearances since joining in 2016, scoring 39 goals.
He played a crucial part in two Premier League title wins under Guardiola between 2017 and 2019, while also getting his hands on two League Cups and one FA Cup.
