Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick says Liverpool target Thiago will decide his future in the ‘coming days’.
The Spaniard was at his influential best as the Germans won the Champions League for the sixth time thanks to a 1-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain in Lisbon on Sunday.
Thiago informed Bayern earlier this month that he will not be signing a new deal at the Allianz Arena and the club have reluctantly agreed to let him depart for a fee of around £27m.
Liverpool are keen on signing Thiago but they’re unwilling to meet Bayern’s asking price, while the Germans haven’t completely given up hope of keeping the former Bayern Munich man.
Flick was seen embracing Thiago at full-time and when asked about the incident he jokingly claimed the midfielder told him he is staying at the club but the German later confirmed that the coming days will prove pivotal in Liverpool’s hopes of signing the 29-year-old.
‘No he told me he’s staying [laughing] – no I’m joking!’ said Flick.
‘No, quite simply I wanted to thank him, just as I thanked all of the players.
‘I don’t know, he doesn’t know either because we were al’ focused on the Champions League final. Now we need to see what goes on over the coming days’
Thiago had initially been keen o nsigning a new long-term deal at the Allianz Arena.
However, the Spaniard has had second thoughts on staying with the Bundesliga giants and he’s held talks with Jurgen Klopp over a move to Anfield.
