Arsenal trio Alexandre Lacazette, Rob Holding and Emiliano Martinez all look set to stay at the club – for now.
The Gunners are in the middle of an attempted clear-out to raise funds for more signings, with £45m-rated Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey a top priority.
But they have failed to find a buyer for Lacazette, whose £30m asking price has put off both Atletico and Juventus.
And he now looks set to stay and compete for a starting spot up front with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Eddie Nketiah.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has also pulled the plug on centre-back Holding’s loan move to Newcastle after an injury to David Luiz.
Brazil defender Luiz is a major doubt for this Saturday’s curtain-raiser with Fulham because of a neck problem.
And Holding is now in line to start because Shkodran Mustafi, Pablo Mari and Calum Chambers are all injured and new signing Gabriel is not match-fit.
Arsenal had also been preparing for the possibility of goalkeeper Martinez leaving the Emirates after a bid from Aston Villa.

Martinez has rejected the club’s latest offer of a new contract and has told Arteta he does not want to play second fiddle to Bernd Leno this season.
But with Villa yet to reach his £20m asking price, the ambitious Argentine is willing to wait until later in the window before deciding his future.
Arsenal have looked at the likes of Brentford’s David Raya and Paris St-Germain’s Alphonse Areola should Martinez leave.
But no serious discussions have taken place over either player, with the club still hopeful he will stay.
Partey, who has rejected a new contract with Atletico, remains Arteta’s top target in the transfer window.
But the Madrid club have already rejected a potential swap deal involving Lacazette and want his release clause paid in full.
