Gareth Barry reckons that Liverpool’s points advantage over Manchester City last season was “misleading”.
The Reds secured a long-awaited Premier League title for the first time in 30 years back in June, and finished the campaign 18 points clear of Man City.
Jurgen Klopp’s side won a record 32 league matches, and suffered only three defeats all season, amassing a remarkable 99 point tally.
Despite the impressive nature of Liverpool’s triumph, former Man City and Everton midfielder Barry reckons the points difference was not a true reflection of the quality of the two teams.
“The 18 points is a bit misleading, that will be hurting Manchester City the difference in points between them last season,” said Barry, speaking on BBC 5Live.
He added: “The size of Man City’s squad, the experience Pep Guardiola’s got, he will be hurting as much as anyone, as will all the players.
“For Liverpool, it’s going to be slightly different for them – they’re going to be the team to beat.
