Kenny number 2.

Kenny, a No 2 is also an achronism for a you know what, is that what Carlo thinks, or is he near the exit door? Better looking squad than before but still a lot need moving on, and replacing with more quality.

I figured they’d give Besic something in the 60’s.

37 players in that list.

I know it includes quite a few youngsters but its does need thinning out quite a bit.

Ramires, Bolasie and Besic should be moved on as quickly as possible. Maybe use Bolasie in a deal for Zaha.

Lossl at 49?? I think he might be on the way out too.

Mike

It feels like Besic has been here since the 60s

This is a much larger squad than I remember Everton having. It sure seems like we need to sell, swap, or loan a bunch of these, unless there’s a ton of room in the U-23 squad.

Great news about Bainesy coming back as a coach. Never doubted it.

Re Unsworth, does this mean he will no longer be managing the U23s?

Mike sounds as if Unsie actually expands his remit

Mike @9 Unsworths new role includes him keeping his job as under 23 manager.

I hope it means that Kenny gets a game, it will be interesting to see what the time in Germany has added to his game. He could be like a new signing.

As for Bainesy getting a place in the development team, that’s great news for the club. Those kids will be getting first-class advice from someone who’s intelligent, level-headed and not swayed by the stupid bubble that a lot of footballers live in these days (see Greenwood/Foden for obvious examples).

Ouzounidis and Astley are the only ones added who haven’t been around 1st team training of late, apart from the injured that is. We’ll likely add a few more u21s as they don’t count against total squad numbers e.g Harry Tyrer.

Delph still no.8, wow.

Given the numbers go as high as 99 these days, how about giving the players the number of the position they play in making the first number the degree of separation from first choice at the start of the season.

Eg. No. 3 Is the starting left back, No. 13 is the second choice left back, No. 23 the third choice left back, and so on.

Endorsements aside, this would help casual observers or neutrals to gain an insight and would let everyone know where they stand at the beginning of the season.

Iwobi got a number? That’s all he’ll get this season! I’m with Drew on this ie give your first choice XI 1-11 and let the rest realise they need to earn the shirt it’s not just handed out randomly.

Drew, enough of the logic, if you don’t mind.

Imagine the handbags though, openly nominating and flagging players as first or second choice.

Drew would our no. 11 also be our second choice keeper? And what about our second choice no. 11? 😁

Is Sandro even here training to warrant his #28?

If Siggy and Delph go, will they reallocate 10 and 8 or just wait until next season? I appreciate that might mean swapping out any James and/or Doucoure shirts… or is it a registration thing and unchangeable?

I would simply have told Siggy, Rodriguez is number 10. Like it or lump it.

Ahhhhh… squad numbers. My favorite pointless thing to obsess over.

Actually don’t have much to say. Basically the only numbers still available for potential incoming players are #3, #15 and #22, so hopefully we can shift a few out the door. It’s pretty embarrassing seeing Sandro and Besic listed on there.

Yeah Catterick brought Besic in after we sold Alan Ball. Apparently to be a sweetener.
