Arsenal have been told the same message by both Atletico Madrid and Lyon when it comes to signing Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar. The Gunners are looking to bring one of the two midfielders to the club before the transfer window closes on October 5 but that will prove difficult for Mikel Arteta.
He has identified his midfield as an area that needs attention but there may have to be several outgoings in order to spend.
It’s clear that Thomas and Aouar won’t come cheap and as it stands, Arsenal’s funds are incredibly limited.
They have however, harvested £20m through the sale of Emiliano Martinez who has joined Aston Villa.
Hector Bellerin was also the subject of a £25m bid from Paris Saint-Germain but he is set to stay.

Matteo Guendouzi has also been offered about to both Atletico and Lyon as part of a player-plus-cash deal.
Neither are interested in any form of swap deal and Lyon’s strong stance on Aouar was recently confirmed by sporting director Juninho.
I get along very well with the sports director [Edu],” he told RMC Sport.
“We spoke on the phone. Houssem Aouar is really appreciated by Arteta.
