Mauricio Pochettino watching Chelsea and Man City as well as Man Utd with stance clearer

Mauricio Pochettino is not chomping at the bit to land the Manchester United job just yet.

Instead, he is prepared to wait out the situation and see what other avenues open up to him – principally the positions at Chelsea and Manchester City.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come under mounting pressure at various times during his reign at Old Trafford.

Every time, the spectre of Pochettino arises with numerous links reported that he is ready to take over.

But the Norwegian has held him at bay so far – with United’s win over Everton the latest redemption.

After Pochettino’s appearance on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, he admitted he was ready for the next chapter after being sacked by Tottenham last year.

And it is not just United are interested in hiring him, with Paris St-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid potential employers.

But according to The Athletic, Poch is in no major rush and is happy to take his time.

With a turbulent season underway, the Argentine is prepared to let the dust settle before picking another project.

He is especially interested in staying in England, where jobs at Chelsea and City have piqued his interest.

Frank Lampard is currently doing a fine job at Stamford Bridge but the unpredictability of Roman Abramovich remains.

The Russian owner is also a huge fan of Pochettino and has tried to hire him on numerous occasions.

However, the situation at City looks more likely with Pep Guardiola’s contract expiring at the end of the season.

The Spaniard has yet to declare his future and has left the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona in similar cases.

“I am always ready to go again and be involved in the game,” Pochettino said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football last week.

“It’s not stress when you are working, it’s not stress going into the training round to prepare the match and to compete.

“I hope to go back soon so we can start again to work. I am looking forward to being back in the game.

“I love this game but it’s difficult. We are inside and working on doing things. That’s the reality.’”
