Curtis Jones leaves Liverpool fans in awe at humiliating skills in one-on-one drill

Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones produced a sublime piece of skill to humiliate his opponent while training with England Under-21s – leaving the Reds faithful well and truly in awe.

Jones, 19, has become a key member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad at Anfield since being handed his debut in January 2019, racking up another 20 appearances since.

The midfielder also received his first call up to England’s Under-21 squad in October, making his first appearance in a 3-3 draw with Andorra.

And he made it into Aidy Boothroyd’s squad again for the latest international break, lining up against Andorra for a second time last Friday before featuring in Tuesday’s clash with Albania.

Jones performed well for England in those two victories and it is clear he has been impressing om training, too.

The Liverpool academy graduate has posted footage on social media which shows him embarrassing one of his team-mates with a dazzling piece of skill at St George’s Park.

While taking part in a one-v-one drill, Jones produces a neat step-over before knocking the ball through his opponent’s legs and converting into a small-sized goal.

It’s fair to say Liverpool fans were delighted with their young star’s bit of trickery, taking to social media to wax lyrical about the clip.

One wrote: “What a player”.

“That is filthy,” said another.

A third simply put: “Baller”.

“Need this again on Sunday,” wrote another.

While one joked: “Curtis that’s a fellow human being”.

Jones could be included in Klopp’s starting line-up for Liverpool’s crunch clash with Leicester this Sunday.

The Reds boss has been left short of options amid injuries to key defenders Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold, while Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara are also nursing leg problems.

Mohamed Salah has tested positive for Covid-19 twice over the past six days and will also be unavailable, while Fabinho is unlikely to feature amid his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Jones could be used in midfield alongside Georginio Wijnaldum and Naby Keita, with James Milner expected to fill in at right-back.
