“We scored some very nice goals, I’m pleased.”

Solskjaer was particularly pleased by Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani’s respective contributions to the game.

“The two are getting used to how we want them to play,” Solskjaer said of the pair.

“Donny can play in different positions and Edinson is a good old fashioned number nine and we haven’t had that for a while.”

Manchester United will be back in action on Sunday afternoon, travelling to St Mary’s to take on Southampton.
