Liverpool fans are desperate to see Thiago Alcantara back in action at St James’ Park on Wednesday night.
The Reds’ summer signing is back in the matchday squad after a lengthy spell out through injury.
Thiago’s return has been long-awaited on Merseyside, and just before we enter 2021, Liverpool have him back fit.
Jurgen Klopp did not select him to slot straight back into his starting XI understandably.
But supporters hope to see the 2020 Champions League winner get some minutes on the field to help build up his match sharpness.
Liverpool confirmed Thiago’s comeback online prior to releasing the full lineup.
And excited fans sent messages urging Klopp to get the 29-year-old on as a substitute against Newcastle.
One delighted supporter posted on Instagram: “WELCOME BAAACK MAESTRO”.
A second hopeful Liverpool fan said: “I want to see him in 2nd half”.
“A run out for 10 mins with the game safe would be great,” a third added.
Another Reds supporter put: “Hopefully he plays”.
And referring to Thiago and fellow midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, a final fan asked: “Please let him play and Ox”.
Thiago has made just two competitive appearances for Liverpool since joining from Bayern Munich.
He played in the Premier League away win at Chelsea before suffering from Covid-19.
A knee injury sustained in the Merseyside derby at Everton way back on October 17 has kept him out ever since.
