Man City boss Guardiola speaks out on Man Utd challenging Liverpool – ‘I’m not concerned’ | Football | Sport

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is not concerned by the fact Manchester United are level on points with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are on a good run and beat Aston Villa 2-1 on New Year’s Day.

Guardiola is focused on his side though and is demanding improvement from his players.

City have been inconsistent so far this season and sit eighth in the Premier League, seven points off their rivals.

Guardiola’s side do have two matches in hand though and return to action against Chelsea later today (4.30pm).

“I am pretty sure Ole is happier than me – but I am not concerned too much about United,” the City manager said.

“I am so busy with what we have to do day by day with the players we have and working with my exceptional group of people in the backroom staff to move us forward.

“If United are there it is because they deserve it. Since I arrived at City I expected United to be there all the time.

“Sometimes in the last couple of seasons, it could not always be possible especially in the Premier League.

“But now they are there and if you want to learn about this league, my advice to my players is don’t think much about the next four, five, six fixtures and think about what happens if you win this amount of games.
