Mesut Ozil’s agent has confirmed the Arsenal midfielder will make a decision on his future at the club in the coming days.

The German last appeared for the Gunners in March 2020 and was left out of Mikel Arteta’s Premier League squad this term.

Given Arsenal’s shortcomings in attack, pressure had been building on Arteta to reinstate Ozil into his squad this month as the Spaniard has the option of reassessing his decision.

However, Arsenal remain keen on flogging Ozil as his £350,000-a-week wages are restricting Arteta’s movements in the transfer window.

Ozil has been linked with Turkish club Fenerbahce, while MLS outfit DC United are also said to be interested in the German.

And Ozil’s agent has confirmed to ESPN that the midfielder will make a final decision on his future in the ‘coming days’.

‘We were not allowed to talk legally before January 1 so now we are just starting to look at the options with the numbers and details,” Sogut told ESPN in an exclusive interview.

‘I can’t talk about the clubs directly because it would be unprofessional but generally, there is six months left on the contract and it is nothing unusual that we will talk to people about different opportunities and try to find the best option for Mesut.

‘He might stay at Arsenal until the summer but he might go. Mesut’s priority is to stay but you never know in football, things can change very fast. For the moment, we are just checking all the options for January and the summer.

‘If we want to leave in January, I need to talk to Arsenal. If we sign for the summer, we don’t need to. That’s the situation. In the next seven to ten days, it will be a little clearer as now the transfer window is open, things can move faster.’

Arsenal could waive a fee for Ozil given their desire to get the German off the books at the Emirates.

Ozil’s current deal expires at the end of the season, meaning the club are unlikely to get much for the midfielder on the market.
