PSG open talks over permanent deal for Kean Rumour Mill

Paris Saint-Germain are keen on making Moise Kean’s loan move a permanent arrangement and have contacted Everton regarding a £31m transfer according to Sky Sports.

Kean, a £25m signing from Juventus in 2019, joined the French club during the summer transfer window after it became clear to him that his chances of starting regularly in the Blues’ first-team were slim this season.

The terms of his loan move did not include an option to buy but Kean’s success so far in Paris has prompted PSG to try and secure his services on a longer-term basis now rather than wait until the summer when they might face more competition.

The 20-year-old has made 16 appearances during his loan spell so far and scored eight goals to add to the two goals he scored for Everton in four appearances in all competitions in September.

£6 or 7 million profit not bad. I for one think it’s the best option. Don’t re invest stick in bank. Let’s use academy players and or loans to see us through. I’d like to see Bolasie off the books and a couple of the other players we don’t use.

I think we could probably haggle a few more million out of PSG. Won’t be the end of the world if we sell him for £31m but I would hope that money’s immediately reinvested this window. I’d like us to bring in Milik from Napoli at the very least.

That price represents a good return on a player who never looked suited to the team or the league. The writing was on the wall once Big Dunc hooked him after bringing him on as a sub – there was simply no way his future was at Everton after that. By all accounts, he’s doing well playing for the only horse in a one-horse race and good luck to the lad.

Now let’s put the money towards going all out to bring Christian Eriksen back to the Premier League and get a backup striker for Calvert-Lewin not named Cenk.

If PSG are keen to get in quickly before they have competition for his signature tell them the price is £35M, or even £40M. If they baulk, tell ’em good luck come the summer when his loan’s over and the auction begins.

They’ll stump up more than £31M, which they must reckon a little club like Everton will be glad of due to making a few million profit.

If they want him, make them pay for an Italian international goalscorer with his whole career ahead of him.

If Kean wants to leave, we should take the £31m and buy a striker now, as Tosun is definitely not good enough as back up to Calvert-Lewin.

It’s possible he came to us too early in his career, or it’s possible he’s simply not and never will be a Premier League player. Either way, any kind of profit would be a bonus because he looked pretty shit whenever he played for us, although he was very good at pointing – probably second only to Lukaku. I do like a striker who can point with conviction.

Would there be any chance of getting Idrissa Gueye back as a makeweight in the deal? We’ve never replaced him since he left, given Gbamin has been out injured since the beginning of last season and the doubts that must exist as to when he will be ready for the first team again. Gueye would surely be a viable option to Khedira, given the latter’s recent history with injury.

I would have a punt on Costa available on a free, could just have the same effect when a risky Andy Gray signed, gave us that bit of nastiness in the final third. Yes he is 32 years old, so what? If we can get a few seasons out of him, then it’s worth a punt.

If you look at Cavani, Ibrahimovic and the impact they made, even though they were well into their thirties, then for free Costa has to be a better option, than the backup we have.

Take the money for Kean, bring in Zaha, then we suddenly look more stronger, in the final third.

I would rather keep the money than reinvest it Zaha. I don’t think he fits into this team unless Richarlison is off elsewhere. And even then, I would hope we have a better option.

A 28-year-old winger from Palace, looks good in an average team, has torn us apart once, bought for an inflated fee. Ring any bells yet?

I thought people had been bemoaning letting the lad go when we had too little cover? Absolutely no-one interested in trying to keep him?

Unless discussions have actually been going on for weeks, then we won’t have anyone lined up so I don’t see the need for him being sold in this window unless he really is dead set on never coming back to play for us.

PSG are a club who are not short on finances and I believe Kean was bought for the future. He is only a young man and, if he keeps improving, Everton will have the 2 options on him.

(1) Keep him to see how much he improves and play him next season.
(2) Leave him where he is on loan and, if a better offer comes in in summer and Ancelotti is not going to use him, then sell him.

Better if Everton try to get rid of the players we do not need than to sell a potential young prospect. We complain about buying old players, so why not keep young ones? He may be in a league that is not as competitive as the premier but he may by next season, be able to step up into Premier League.

I suppose Mr Brands gets the dirty job of telling his mother where it all went wrong, how Mr Ancelotti didn’t mean it when he said he would be back at Goodison next season or why Mr Ferguson didn’t have a hair dryer handy when he subbed him on and off in almost five minutes. Bill could even write an opera along those lines which is bound to attract young European international players when they read the happy ending.

He was not so Mustard as Busted, as in Flush. Maybe a case of the Premier League not being his cup of tea and liking the French way as it’s easy. The difference in attitude between him and Calvert-Lewin was staggering. One trying everything he could to do what his manager wanted… and another who appeared to sulk even when played (and scoring).

Ferguson did him no favours but, if you are sent on and told to do certain things and don’t, then that can happen. Happening so publicly though would be a killer psychologically to anyone, whatever their age.

I would prefer us to get rid now and bring in Aarons or Lamptey with the money. Get a loan or a free agent in up front to give Calvert-Lewin a break now and then. Costa has been linked with Everton before so it might be worth a try. Even Milik on loan.

Get Bolasie, Besic and Tosun off the books soonest – WBA, where are you?

I hope Digne is back soon, so we can get Richarlison back up and running. Godfrey has been great but having Digne overlapping and crossing and taking defenders away will give Richarlison and Gordon (should he play again) the room to manoeuvre instead of having blocked alleyways in front of them as vs Sheffield Utd and West Ham Utd.

Act nonchalant and casual, Marcel, just say Gueye and or Mbappe as the makeweight.

Here are the stats for PSG’s main strikers this season:

Neymar, age 28, Brazil: 12 appearance, 9 goals (3 League 1 + 6 Europe)
Mbappe, age 22, France: 18 appearances, 14 goals (12 League 1 + 2 Europe)
Kean, age 20, Italy: 16 appearance, 9 goals (7 League 1 + 2 Europe)

Neymar and Mbappe are valued at more than £120 million at least (okay, maybe £100 million in Covid times).

The point being, I agree with Brian Williams (6). Play hardball with PSG – extract a minimum of £40 million plus Gueye on a loan deal. Sign Diego Costa (if Carlo finds that he is fit and hungry to play) on a short-term deal to reinforce our striking options. Then, spend all that money on a top-class player who will reinforce our right side – either right-back or right-sided midfielder. I would plonk that money on Emi Buendia of Norfolk or David Brooks from Bournemouth or a world class right-back (no idea who?).

Both teams are chasing promotion to the Premier League, so I know it would be difficult to convince them to sell their best players, but offer them good money and I am sure that they will consider. I would go the gradual team building route – get in one or two world class players into the team per window.

As many have indicated I think cashing in is the best option here, it was patently obvious that the lad, although his appearances were mostly limited to cameo roles from the sub’s bench, didn’t really show that he was happy. Even when given a start he would disappear in games and eventually be subbed himself, maybe that was a lot down to tactics but he didn’t strike me as someone who relished the chance to do well for us. It is obvious he seems to be a good fit at PSG so if we can get a decent fee, grab it and move on.

Gavin @ 2, you mention Milik from Napoli there, the usual clickbait sites have also touted this for some time. I know very little about him, hopefully either yourself or someone can convince me, and possibly others that he is the answer. Personally, I think Costa (if indeed on a free) would be a good short term solution, he is aggressive and takes no shit, and definitely knows where the goal is and how to find it. My only concern would possibly be the number of times we could be reduced to ten men with him in ‘animal mode’.

I just hope we get someone to partner Calvert-Lewin up front, and someone who can re-supply him with the crosses he has been starved of recently. I see the age-old link to Wilfred Zaha has emerged again, personally would like him for the right price and wages, there is no doubt he would give us something that has been missing for a while. Having said all that, January rarely sees a lot of movement, and seldom any bargains either, but if we can offload a few of the ‘usual suspects’ it may just help.

I think there will be movement this window despite what the club’s media narrative is. There are some interesting potentials: Costa? Yes, if a short term contract, the Brazillian boys could help him settle, though I don’t think he would want to be a supersub somehow?

I don’t want Zaha, too much ££ and 28! I can see us shifting Bolasie, Besic and Bernard this window. If we did and sold Kean that would free up the money for Buendia and a right-back.

I have previously touted Aaron’s, his stats at the weekend were awful though, by all accounts! I’d still like him though there are other good right-backs out there.

I’m not sure Costa would be a good signing even in the short term. He’s lost a yard of pace and the goals were drying up while he was still at Chelsea and that was a few years ago now. He hasn’t done very much at all with Athletico Madrid. He was great player in his day but he’s just going off his reputation now. We’re already linked with Khedira who could be seen in a similar light, but at least he’s a defensive midfielder so his lack of pace wouldn’t matter so much as long as he stays fit.

I would hope £31m would be turned down by Everton and that would be viewed very much as a starting offer. PSG made several bids on Gana before we eventually accepted, and speaking of Gana I agree with the other posters that he might be a very useful makeweight in any potential deal, whether that be a loan or even permanent deal. Gana’s value must have decreased somewhat in the past 18 months with lack of playing time and his advancing years.

On the other hand, a new manager has different ideas and Pochettino might really rate him so that idea would be blown out of the water.

It was obvious he did not want to be at Everton and wanted out; the fee mentioned is excellent business as I am not sure about his potential.

More important is what we do with the fee, Carlo knows that we can’t just go with only Calvert-Lewin upfront. I think we could be in a very interesting transfer window as Carlo gives little away… and quite rightly so.

Charge them £6M for a 2-year loan deal. By the end of that deal, Kean will have banged in a ton of goals and be worth £40M+ and netted us at least twice the original investment.

Continue buying attractively priced young talents (not 28- or 29-year-old wingers) and either let them flourish in our team or sell them on for profit.

The only reason to sell now is if Brands has some players lined up who will definitely improve us and help the push for top 6.

Exactly, Stephen. Imagine this were Spurs or Liverpool selling a young player… they’d be expecting top dollar.

Surely with us having virtually nobody to challenge Calvert-Lewin for the striker’s position, we need Kean back. I thought it was bordering on madness in letting him go out on loan. We are now paying the price for that folly.

Also, how we could have done with Kean coming on to give Calvert-Lewin a break. Kean is scoring a goal every 2 games and to consider selling him for £31 million is some sort of sick joke.

Now obviously it’s gone really well for him at PSG; how the change of manager will affect him, I don’t know. But, if he wants to stay at PSG, then we need to adopt the same hardball tactics that other clubs use when we try and buy their players. Can you imagine if the boot was on the other foot and we tried to buy a 20-year-old striker who was scoring a goal every 2 games playing for PSG? How much do you think they would ask, assuming they would be stupid enough to sell such a talent?

Let’s also remember PSG are one of Europes wealthiest clubs so, if Kean is adamant he wants to stay, then £60 million with a sell-on clause should be the minimum we should accept.

Let’s remember he was treated abysmally by Ferguson when he was in charge when he brought him on as sub and then subbed him. This was a young 19-year-old coming to a new country were many world class players have come and struggled to pick up the pace of the Premier League. I think that would make any young player dispirited, so why wouldn’t he relish to go to a club that would treat him properly.

Finally for those thinking we should accept the supposedly £31 million, can you tell me where we get a striker for £31 million, for that money we would probably get another Tosun.

 Posted
04/01/2021 at

I wouldn’t let Brands anywhere near any new deal. It’s his fault Kean was brought here in the first place – and he can get that shirt back off Kean’s ma as well.

 Posted
04/01/2021 at

I understand the sentiments of those who would try to hold on to Kean until his value rises. But, I also have too many memories of him looking disinterested and miserable to be confident he won’t have a slump in form just when we look to sell him.

So, of course we should look for the best deal. But I’d be happy with him off the books at a profit and with a sell-on clause.

The only priority for this window is to bring in a striker. Realistically, it has to be someone who doesn’t mind being ‘back-up’ but is good enough to play when Calvert-Lewin needs a rest or gets injured. Not sure any of the ones mentioned yet tick both boxes.

I’ve been told that Costa is on £8.5M a year, so even a free isn’t cheap for a bench warmer.

Potentials in England are few and far between so, unless our scouts have spotted some talent, we could be struggling. And finally, if we can’t offload the 3 amigos in January, then I can’t see Carlo wanting anyone else in anyway.

His sale price will be determined by the demand for him. It is looking like the boy doesn’t want to come back to Merseyside so we have to get the best possible price for him. We need to be asking other big clubs if they will pay £40-50M before we succumb to £31M.

Any income has to be invested back into the team. We need our own Bruno Fernandes driving our midfield forward, with goals assists and an edge, that’s the priority.

I agree with Steve and Ajay above Emi Buendia fits the bill, Dele Alli is an interesting one, there’s other maybe even better options on Sam’s transfer thread. We really need that younger player energy in midfield to compliment Allan and Doucouré.

It’s a missing link in our Everton team that will transform the way we play and help light up the likes of Richarlison. Blow the budget on this player as the No 1 priority, then in the summer, Gomes, Delph and Siggurdson can hopefully be moved on.

Milik is out of contact in June so we may be able to pick him up for a few million this month. The target would be that his wages could be offset almost entirely by selling Tosun. Ancelotti alluded to wanting a different type of striker to him though so we will have one or two pacy forwards under consideration.

£31M should be enough to re-invest in a Norwich or Watford ‘star’. He and Brands seem adept at signing no-marks but not quite so able at getting rid.

Make Carlo get the players he’s got to play better, then he will be somewhere near Moyes’s level at Everton.

I am not remotely interested in Everton making profit or not on the Kean deal. For some reason he didn’t produce the goods at Goodison but he couldn’t do it at Juve either.

He is still young and some young players burst on the scene too fast then fade for a while but he has certainly hit the ground running at PSG.

It’s a pity for Everton as we are crying out for another striker as it seems Calvert-Lewin is having to do it himself with Richarlison missing games and not really scoring for a while.

There are no other options worthwhile so Hopefully Carlo has someone in mind soon otherwise I fear that more toothless performances like Friday will be on the cards.

He still has potential to be top class but we can’t wait another 2 or 3 seasons for him to adapt and start to fulfil his potential.

He’s proven he can score but he contributes little else whilst being lazy and his silly off the field antics remind me how immature he is.

Kevin, I’d say that’s unfair on Brands.

Iwobi: currently a starter, and improving. Our best option at right wing. Not £35 million, but a decent player.

Kean: a win-win in that even in failure brings a likely profit. Was definitely a risk worth taking.

Gbamin: can’t blame Brands for the injury. Incredibly unfortunate.

Delph: useless and need rid. But was only £8 million, and the hope was he’d be an experienced pro who’d provide leadership. On paper, a great deal and many thought it was a coup. But yeah, he’s been crap.

Brands is far from setting the world alight, but he ain’t no Steve Walsh.

I actually think Steve Walsh is like for like. The truly disastrous buys were all Ron-Rons, Sigurdsson, Williams, Klaassen, Bolasie. But Pickford and Keane (Walsh buys) have held their value.

The one good signing Brands made was Digne. That’s one out of I don’t know how many. He’s spent literally hundreds of millions and we have very little to show for it. Oh, and he has January off.

I think we got lucky that we didn’t get absolutely rinsed on the Kean deal, get him out the door as soon as.

No deal for £31 million unless his sale assists in bringing in another quality striker immediately. He’s very young, has started very well for PSG back playing continental football. Let him stay there, play more games, score more goals, and then see whether the experience has matured him enough to have an impact for us in the Premier League.

If no, we then see if he interests not just PSG but the likes of Juventus, Inter, AC Milan as well. If we can pay £20+ million for Tosun, Kean has to be worth way more than £31 million.

He clearly doesn’t want to play for us and we’re in a good position as he’s knocked a few goals in, so, his stock is high. He’ll never happily come back to Everton so, get a good deal and re-invest. He’s been a good signing from a financial if not a footballing point of view.

Right back seems priority with Jonjoe Kenny not getting a look in. Striker-wise, we seem to have moved away from a front three to more of a 4-4-1-1 which suits Sigurdsson or Rodriguez and, if we have one up top, Calvert-Lewin or Richarlison, then upgrade to wide-men.

I believe selling now would be a mistake, as others have said, at least wait until the summer when hopefully the Covid situation will be less of an impact on transfer fees.

Personally, I would bring him back now (if we have a recall option) and challenge him to replicate his current form but on the basis we give him a run in the side as the lone striker or part of a front 2. To be fair, we haven’t really given him a chance considering he arrived from a different league, 19 years old, not a clear run in the side etc.

In the very few games I saw him play for us there were moments of quality and he offers something different than Calvert-Lewin as he can create something out of nothing whereas Calvert-Lewin needs others to help him and is a way better option, even off the bench, than Cenk Tosun.

It looks like the gaffa wants ready-made proven players in his team so, if that’s the case, why not put a bid in for Lukaku or Lacazzete or let’s play fantasy football and say Haaland or Lewandoski??

If the gaffa is prepared to take a punt then let’s go with the young Swede, Alexander Isak or Atalantas Duvan Zapta, both young and natural goalscorers, the latter with electrifying pace.

End of the day If we do decide to sell, imho, we need to get between £40 to 50 million.

Let’s watch this space.

Go for Sar at Watford, whatever Watford want that’s what we sell Kean for plus 20% of any sell-on fee.

Think we need to sign a forward before we sell Kean or loan Tosun.

If we can get around £35 million we should go for it.

If we are going to qualify for European football, we must also bring in two quality players a forward and a midfielder.

No signings = no Europe. Our squad is too weak to keep us in the top six.

We also need to offload Bolasie, Besic, Kenny, Tosun etc.

£31M for a player who clearly doesn’t want to be here and because of that probably never produce the goods is good business.

The right price should be £35-40M summer time but to be honest I would accept something around £33M now. Selling some deadwood plus that amount would generate a proper transfer budget for investment.

Winter usually is not the time for major changes but this year is strange, to say the least, and there are a lot of hidden gems and some not-so-hidden out there if you want to invest.

I understand some views above given he has been poor for us and frankly looked like half the time he wasn’t even trying.

I just have this horrible feeling we may regret letting go of him. It may be that it was just the wrong time for him but I’d be tieing PSG up into buy back clauses and sell on fees in case this lad turns out to be the real deal.

At that fee level though I’d be having him back at the end of the season, full preseason under his belt with Carlo, better players to play with.

If a club as wealthy as PSG want him, a team that will always be in the Champions League, then this is way too low. Look what Everton paid for Sigurdsson, who was a lot older, going to a team that doesn’t play in the Champions League. Surely it has to be at least £50 million. Look what we have paid for Pickford, Bolasie, Tosun, Klaassen and an okay-ish Keane.

Keep him and tell him he’s free to go wherever he wants to, providing the buying club reaches our evaluation of £45M. It wouldn’t be unreasonable knowing he doesn’t want stay to be a bit mercenary about this and speculate on his future value.

Then tell him the better he plays, the quicker they’ll come in for him and the more his wages will be.

A part of my just want’s to take the £31M and run, he’s a basket case, another Balotelli.

This is a young man who was brought in as a future player for the striking position. During the short period at the club his performances in the league, because of the fee we paid for him, he did not seem worth it.

To sell him now for what is being offered is a mistake, as were will we get another young striker with his potential at the same price. There are very few 19-year-old players who come into the Premier League and are instant successes, especially as a striker.

The major complaint by our supporters is we are usually buying older players and castoffs from other clubs and now it seems we should return to our previous policies of selling our young players. We have to lower the age of our squad to build a winning team that can continually compete at the top 4 level.

One of the most expensive players to buy is a proven goalscorer, and the fee we may get for Kean at this moment will not cover the cost of buying a proven scorer.

There are no guarantees a player coming in from another country will be an instant success, so to sell him at this time is a mistake. Leave him were he is and let him continue to improve; if he is that good, we can make a decision in summer to either keep or sell.

There are a lot of comments on here about how he ‘clearly doesn’t want to play for us’, or how he ‘doesn’t want to return to Merseyside’, but is this known to be the case? Has he said anything publicly or through his agent?

Clearly his attitude and off-field antics suggest that he wasn’t entirely happy, and who wouldn’t want to play for PSG, but do we know for a fact that he wants to leave?

I knew nothing about him pre-signing and, checking his show reel, I couldn’t understand what the fuss was about… and so it’s proved.

Scores against poor defences when playing for good teams but certainly not the top drawer player advertised. He doesn’t seem happy in Blue so get what we can, piss in his kit bag and let him go.

£31 Million is low, some other players have gone for around the same price previously.

However, since the Pandemic, those crazy prices have dipped and no longer command the fee teams would expect to pay.

A year ago, Palace wanted £85 Million for Zaha; a year down the line, it is half that. Clubs are not prepared to pay outrageous prices.

On that basis, I would look to strike a deal, £31 Million, with a big percentage add-on clause, rather than try and get a few extra million with no add-ons.

Don’t be afraid to take profits! After an underwhelming 12 months from Kean, we should take the money from PSG. If nothing else, the episode shows that bringing in a promising youngster is generally less risky than paying premium sums for 28-year-old ‘proven’ talents. At least there is a fair chance of recovering the money.

Buying Zaha would be fraught with risk. He has been comfortable at Palace, a big fish in a small pond. His age rules out a viable sell-on option and there is no guarantee that he will settle at another club, especially outside London.

Besides I have not been convinced he has the hunger or drive to improve us. We do however need another forward. Someone with pace, quality, goals and a real desire to make his mark. If we can’t buy that player now, better to wait until the summer.

Just reading Chelsea have told Lampard he needs to sell players before he can bring anyone in. If we can get £31 million for Kean, I would offer the lot to Chelsea for Zouma.

I realise other positions are a priority, but Zouma and Godfrey would be an outstanding partnership for the next 3-4 years. Both of them are fast, aggressive centre-halves.

Look to move Mina and Keane on. We could play with a higher line, that would benefit the whole team.

Take however much money we can get for him now and then re-invest in the summer. Two players I certainly would like us to go for is Di Lorenzo of Napoli at right-back, has a reasonable assist rate. Also the young lad at Brentford, Da Silva cracking midfielder.

Don’t see doing anything more than one or two loans in this windows who are merely squad fillers.

Phil 71 come on mate hes gone to play with Neymar and Mbappe, and worse players like Di Maria and Veratti.

It was obvious to me when he left it was obviously by choice so he favoured a stay there if possible.

It seemed strange at the time but when Ancelotti let him go with basically no fight, that also came across like he didn’t want to be here.

I was happy to see a raw talent come here but the circumstances have been awful around his game time, having to play 2nd fiddle to a man with not much more experience and his lack of patience.

Time to go before we end up with a Balotelli character.

Mr Brands is reputed to have assured Moise’s mum and dad the we would “look after” the player when we were in the wooing process to secure his services. What followed was a bit of a hard lesson for the player, his performances were erratic, an alien league, with the expected gritty performances in the Ferguson transition unsuited to his mercurial style, fair to say?

The sale would be a “win-win” at the right price. He is a young man with huge potential, but having tasted the glamour of PSG, there is no way back for him, especially if Pochettino is blowing smoke up his arse.

That said, I cannot help think we could get that man Gana back for a snip, and for me, he walks back into this Everton team. In fact, I could see him as the sole defensive midfield player allowing both The Duke and Allan greater freedom to drive forward.

He was an absolute beast for Everton and so can be again. Sell the callow youth and reclaim our Gana.

Incredibly young and impressionable, I think Duncan’s subbing him off minutes after subbing him on – for whatever reason – was a bigger kick in the balls than even James received from VVD, and psychologically maybe he never got over that. I mean it was pretty brutal.

I just watched the Ronaldo and Maradona docs on Netflix and one thing that comes across is how hard it is to be wrenched out of the protective home bubble/environment. Not everyone will have the personality to just buck up to it, and Kean does not strike me as one of those similar to CR and Maradona.

Personally, I liked the guy, and I hope he blossoms wherever he ends up. Would have been nice if it had been Everton. But maybe Paris is a more natural second home than Merseyside.

Kim, I agree, I thought at the time the match being televised globally ( as it was Manchester United) would be as demoralising for any young player as it could get. That pitch would have been huge when he walked off. It is not the way to manage anyone.

Kim and Joe, I don’t know.
If you are the new manager and everyone else are busting their balls at training and on the pitch for you, you work hard at training telling him what he needs to do and how he needs to work harder for the team and stop trying to do too much and so keep losing the ball.
And then he goes on as a sub and doesn’t follow any of those instructions. Continually loses the ball, thinks he knows better than a caretaker manager from Scotland.
The lad might be young and you can feel sorry for him but if he won’t listen then what can you do.
You have to earn respect from your peers and manager but he had this arrogance that looked like a spoiled kid.
I too am happy that he’s doing well so he can make us a profit, but a bit like who he models himself on, he’s just not good enough for the English game and unlike DCL isn’t willing to learn and change

Brian – I don’t think he was on the pitch long enough to be “continually losing the ball”. He may have not been operating as Duncan had instructed him before subbing him on but that would more likely be misunderstanding rather than impetuousness. Remember his grasp of English was very limited and even I have trouble understanding Duncan on occasions.

To be honest, I forget what the passage of the game was at that time or how it ended up but unless he managed to turn the result against us I do not respect Duncan’s man management skills on that occasion.

Take the money.

Really wanted him to work out, and does show something if PSG want him after a “trial period”.

Loads of decent players in the Championship or top leagues abroad like Germany or France who we can bring in to be better off the bench than who we have currently.

For example, there will be a few flying right full backs that would jump today to move up to the Premier League if the phone call was made.

Transfers or loans, we can make this work out and take us up another level which is touching distance away.

9 goals in 16 games at his 20 years of age is better than Cavani at the same age. Kean is going to be a world class star if he stays at PSG so we would be foolish to sell for 31 million. Just hope we haven’t agreed a loan to buy deal for 31 million.

The benchmark should be Victor Osimhen, who scored 13 in 27 for Lille in 19/20. Similar age to Kean, he was sold to Napoli for €70 million. Kean could realistically end the season with 25/30 goals – in which case £31 million is way too cheap! I value him closer to £50 million for his potential alone, despite his struggles here. Let’s not rush, he’s doing ok and his value is going up all the time. Worst case scenario, he bombs from now until the end of the season, in which case we’d get £31 million in the summer…

Tom@86 , hello there. Fair point, I did not express any pity for Moise, but I guess it was one of those things where he wasn’t resilient enough character to deal with the challenges he was facing, as James said in his interview, football at the top level in England is physically very challenging, and James should know.

Turning to Gana, and to those who say the second coming of a player is not always good, well, fair enough, but for me his level of commitment and consistency was amongst the best I have seen in the premier league era for Everton. OK, he can’t hit a long diagonal ball like Gomes, but he will effect every game he plays in. He’s been badly under used at PSG, but he could definitely be an asset in our midfield and we could afford his wages if we offload Delph, Bolasie, Tosun and Kean this month.

 Posted

I’ve already said I agree to sell him for £30M plus as he’s worth less than that to us. A better more impactful player could be bought who’s a starter, a game-changer.

I actually do think he has a lot of talent and if we had the luxury of time, money and a world class squad we could wait and see how he develops etc.

But we need to challenge for European places this season on the pitch but off the pitch our financial accounts potentially becoming an issue if we just splash the cash without offloading an asset.

Therefore sell and reinvest seems a good all-round decision.

Then there’s the small problem of Pochettino potentially not wanting to keep an on-loan player.

I do think Pochotihno will wan’t to keep Gana, a good athletic team player. As for the talented but individual Neymar, I can’t see Pochettino putting up with him, which could offer Kean hope.
