Everton among clubs interested in Caicedo Rumour Mill

Everton are one of four clubs said to be seriously interested in Ecuadorian talent Moisés Caicedo according to reports.

While a report by Dario Extra claimed that it had come down to the Blues or MLS club Atlanta United, there have been suggestions of interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

Indeed, there are reports today that United are in pole position for the midfielder who has been likened to N’golo Kanté, and that their move for him is only being held up at this point by a work permit.

This is the type of player that I thought Marcel Brands was brought onboard to find. I admit to only having seen him on YouTube and I’m sure the league he’s playing in is a poor standard but he looks head and shoulders above everybody else and still only 19.

Worth a speculative punt before the cat really is let out of the bag. He can tackle, pass, create, score and even run which is something quite unique within our current midfield.

Just don’t put him with the U23s under the tutelage of Everton Old Boys FC.

Excellent young player. I’ve seen him twice, both times for Ecuador, in a win over Uruguay and an absolute stomping of Colombia and James Rodriguez (6-1 I believe). Couldn’t believe he was a teenager. Best player on the pitch in the Colombia game.

Yes please! As I’ve mentioned on other threads, he looks a fantastic young player. A very complete young midfielder who has already held his own in some International matches and in the South American Champions League.

A Kante/Gueye type who can pass, shoot and carry the ball. Probably more a player for the future than right now but could be useful now and brilliant in a few years time.

Thomas #1

Unfair on the U23 coaches in my opinion. They are doing okay with what they have available to work with. If they are good enough for the manager, they are good enough for me.

Mike,

You normally have a good nose for these young whipper-snappers. Isn’t it nice to see the club linked to young, fresh players on the up rather than old veterans looking for a swansong?

You betcha, Eddie. And I always have a proprietary interest in the young ones from this side of the Atlantic. I watch the Latin America World Cup qualifiers looking for candidates.

I remember one in particular, a young Costa Rican left-back who tore the US apart in a qualifier. I posted here several times my hope that Moyes would buy him. And damned if he didn’t finally do just that!

That’s why my personal list of all-time greatest Everton goals will always include Oviedo Baby At Old Trafford. I literally cried for joy. Hell, I still get misty-thinking about it.

Memo to Mr Chairman.

Mr Gaynes is available as our Americas scout.
He has already made you millions with one signing.

What is your take on Gabigol, Mike?

Mike (our American scout) on a serious note, do you know what Everton’s scouting set-up is for the Americas?

Interesting to see that Sebastian Haller is likely to move on from West Ham. At a massive loss.

He was touted on here by many fans, much like Bas Dost. I was never really convinced that he was worth the huge sum paid. But that’s what teams in the Premier League are willing to pay for a striker.

Not long ago, people were booing Romelu Lukaku at Goodison Park for ‘not trying hard enough’. Laughable really.

Mike Gaynes #6, watching the coverage of Trump’s acolytes storming Capital Hill, I spotted a chap in a royal blue top (looked like an EFC replica top) waving the Confederate flag. Anything you’d like to own up to? Or perhaps Jamie in Florida?

I think Lukaku frustrated loads of Evertonians, when he never worked hard enough Tommy, but I never heard people booing him, even though they knew he could be unplayable when he really put his mind to it?

He could get away with a lack of effort (at times) playing for Everton, but this wasn’t the case at Man Utd, and some people wonder why, we never seem to do as well, once we feel pressure.

Reading what people are saying, then this is exactly the type of signing I’d love Everton to be making, and I will always say, if a player is good enough then he’s old enough, especially if he’s willing to work.

Another Onyekuro with no work permit ? It’ll never happen anyway.

If he’s able to join and improve the first team in the next season or 2 then great otherwise I’m not Kean.
