Jorge Mendes is trying to find a new club for his client Nuno Espirito Santo and held talks with Arsenal when Mikel Arteta was under serious pressure.

Wolves boss Nuno has seen his reputation soar after guiding his side from the Championship to the Europa League but is keen for a new challenge.

He has instructed his agent Mendes to find him a new club, despite extending his contract with Wolves in September until 2023.

With Arsenal languishing in the Premier League, Mendes held talks with the club’s hierarchy about a potential switch.

But a recent upturn in results saw those talks shut down, according to The Sun.

Nuno would prefer to remain in the Premier League in his next job and wants to work for a side who is in Europe.

While he is content to continue with Wolves for the time being, Mendes believes the time to land him a top job is now given his success in the Midlands.

Nuno was previously in contention to replace Jose Mourinho as Manchester United manager before they appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

While his preference is to remain in the Premier League, a return to Spain could be on the cards.

He spent over a year with Valencia before resigning after a poor start to the 2015/16 La Liga season.
