RB Leipzig have announced the signing of Manchester City defender Angelino after the German side triggered their loan star’s £16million obligation to buy clause.
The 24-year-old signed for the Bundesliga side on loan for the season, with an obligation to purchase clause inserted based on games played.
Angelino had to feature in 12 matches through the campaign, with five of them coming in the second half of the German season for the clause to be eligible.

The left back, who has been a near ever-present for Julian Nagelsmann’s side, reached that milestone after he was selected for Friday’s 2-1 win over Augsburg before next week’s Champions League date with Liverpool.
‘Angelino is an extremely good player who is very important to our game,’ Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann said via the official Bundesliga website.
‘Angel played a leading role with us from the start and – even though he’s already developed extremely well and quickly – there is still a lot more to come from him.’
Angelino’s loan will continue until the end of the season, with the deal automatically becoming permanent when the transfer window opens in the summer.
The 24-year-old left back can be repurchased by City in the future for a price of £35million
The Spaniard has enjoyed two spells at City, who sold him to PSV Eindhoven in 2018 before buying him back a year later.
He failed to break into Pep Guardiola’s first-team plans and headed for Leipzig in January 2020, becoming an integral part of their surprise run to the Champions League semi-finals.
City possess the option to re-sign Angelino again for around £35m in the future. He made 11 starts for the club.
Angelino has scored nine goals and provided 16 assists in 46 outings for Nagelsmann’s side, a fruitful return for a full back.
