Jurgen Klopp has been thoroughly impressed by the two performances of Ozan Kabak at Liverpool so far, saying the young defender has ‘big potential’ at the club.
The 20-year-old is on loan at Anfield for the rest of the season, joining from Schalke in January to help out amid Liverpool’s injury crisis.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are all out for the long-term and Klopp was desperately short of central defenders.
The Reds have the option to buy the Turkey international in the summer and it sounds like, if he keeps up his level of performance, Klopp will be keen to do so.
‘Big potential, 20-years-old and already pretty experienced, to be honest,’ Klopp told a press conference of Kabak.
‘He didn’t take the easy way in his career so far. When you are in Istanbul and can play for one of the biggest teams in the world [Galatasaray], always around the top of the table.

‘Then you go to Stuttgart and Schalke and fight really hard to win a football game. That’s good from an educational development point of view.
‘Now he’s here, looks really promising, both games were really solid.’
Kabak suffered something of a calamity on his Liverpool debut as he collided with goalkeeper Alisson Becker to gift Leicester City their second goal in a 3-1 win for the Foxes, but Klopp is certainly not holding that unfortunate incident against him.
‘We all know what happened in the Leicester game, but around this situation he played a really solid game, not to forget the team we played that day, number two or three in the Premier League, that’s a tough one with the strikers they have.
‘He did really well, long may it continue.’
Kabak will likely play in the Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday.
