Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho likely to submit four transfer requests after Man Utd defeat | Football | Sport

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho wouldn’t have been satisfied after his side’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday. It was a poor performance from his side and reports have suggested he could overhaul his squad should they fail to qualify for the Champions League. So Express Sport will now take a look at four signings he’d likely to demand in order for Tottenham to be considerably better next season.

A goalkeeper

Tottenham star Hugo Lloris wasn’t the worst player on the pitch against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

But it’s clear the France international isn’t the goalkeeper he once was – and that’s something Mourinho is aware of.

“It’s very, very sad. I think it’s really sad that you don’t ask me about that. It’s sad you don’t have the moral honesty to treat me the same way as you treat others.

“In relation to that, I just want to say that Sonny is very lucky that his father is a better person than Ole. I am a father.

“I think as a father you have always to feed your kids. Doesn’t matter what they do. If you have to steal to feed your kids, you steal.”

A right winger

Lucas Moura will always be a Tottenham hero.

The Brazil international did, after all, score the goal that propelled them to the Champions League final back in 2019.

But Lucas, for all of his speed and energy, isn’t good enough to be a regular for Tottenham on the right wing of their attack.

Three goals and four assists from 26 matches means there’s plenty of improving to do.

And with Lucas now struggling in the prime years of his career, Mourinho can be forgiven for seeking an upgrade.

Mourinho defends Son

Solskjaer was critical of Son after United’s win, saying the Tottenham star would go hungry if he was his own child out of shame for his theatrics during the contest.

And Mourinho has defended the South Korea international after the match, saying: “First of all, let me tell you something. I’m very, very surprised that after the comments that Ole made on Sonny, you don’t ask me about it.

“Because – and I told Ole already this because I met him just a few minutes ago – if it’s me, telling that player A, B or C from another club, if it was my son I wouldn’t give him dinner tonight, what would be the reaction of that?

“It’s very, very sad. I think it’s really sad that you don’t ask me about that. It’s sad you don’t have the moral honestly to treat me the same way as you treat others.

“In relation to that, I just want to say that Sonny is very lucky that his father is a better person than Ole. I am a father.

“I think as a father you have always to feed your kids. Doesn’t matter what they do. If you have to steal to feed your kids, you steal.”
