Kroenke ‘puts Arsenal on SALE’ despite denials, Dangote ‘could have bought Gunners for £1.7m, Daniel Ek latest

MORNING, ARSENAL FANS

The Gunners got back to winning ways yesterday against Newcastle United, after the desperately disappointing defeat to Villarreal in midweek.

Boss Mikel Arteta made eight changes to the starting XI from the 2-1 defeat in Spain – most notably bringing in skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for his first start since recovering from a bout of malaria.

It was Mohamed Elneny, however, that gave his side the perfect start.

In under five minutes, the Egyptian fired home his first-ever Premier League goal, to give the Gunners the perfect start.

And it was to be Aubameyang that doubled the lead, providing an acrobatic finish to Gabriel Martinelli’s cross.

And after the game, Auba said: “We needed this one I think. After a few games without winning it was important ahead of our game on Thursday.

“My goal was a great one, because of the build-up. Gabriel Martinelli did incredible work today, and he gave me this assist with a terrific cross. All credit to him.

“I was really happy to be back in the starting team. When you are out for a few weeks you realise how good it is to be back on the pitch and scoring a goal.”

Arsenal’s attention now turns to Thursday’s crunch showdown with Unai Emery’s Villarreal, as they aim to overturn their 2-1 deficit and reach a second Europa League final in three seasons.
