Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti ‘has asked for Gareth Bale signing’ ahead of transfer window | Football | Sport

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly asked the club for the signing of Gareth Bale this summer. The Wales international has endured a mixed season at Tottenham since returning from Real Madrid. And a new challenge over at Goodison Park could now await.

Everton have made a habit of raiding Spain’s biggest clubs in recent seasons.

Both Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes arrived from Barcelona back in the summer transfer window of 2018, while James Rodriguez touched down from Real Madrid a year ago.

And, now, it seems Ancelotti has another top player in his sights.

El Chiringuito chief Eduardo Inda has claimed the Italian wants to sign Bale on a free transfer this summer, with Real Madrid likely to let him go.

Inda said: “Ancelotti has asked for Bale, a player he always loved when they played together at Real Madrid. He wants to take him to Everton.”

It is claimed, however, that Everton don’t want to pay a penny in transfer fees.

That may work out for both parties, though, with Real Madrid determined to get the forward off their wage bill as they eye a deal for Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe.

Ancelotti managed Bale at Real Madrid, signing the 31-year-old from Tottenham back in the summer transfer window of 2013.

Together they won the Champions League, with the Wales international scoring in the 2014 triumph over Atletico Madrid.

Now a reunion on Merseyside could be on the cards.

Should Everton sign Bale, they’d boast one of the best attacks in the entire Premier League.

They could deploy the veteran on the right wing, with Rodriguez in the No 10 role and Richarlison on the left.

Together, the trio could work together to create chances for the prolific Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score.

Bale has started to come good for Tottenham and, on Sunday, scored a brilliant hat-trick as Sheffield United were beaten 4-0.

He then aimed a dig at former boss Jose Mourinho, insisting Spurs were now playing a brand of football better-suited to their squad.

“(It’s) the fact that we’re more on the front foot, we’re closer to the goal and you’re able to score more,” he said after putting the Blades to the sword.

“We’re playing football the Tottenham way.”

Bale also insisted he was feeling good at Tottenham ahead of the final few matches of the season, with four games left on the calendar.

“I feel good, as I’ve said before I just needed to play games, to get a run of games and I’m doing that now,” he said.

“I’m happy and when I’m happy I normally play well.

“It was a great performance from the first whistle. I feel like we were on the font foot and we pressed well, got hold of the ball, played some good football. It’s always nice to get another (hat-trick) ball.

“You have to take your chances when they come, and I had a few tonight.

“Winning always makes everyone happy, it gives a winning mentality to the dressing room. That’s all we can do.”

Bale is expected to be involved when Tottenham lock horns with Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday (12:30pm).

Ancelotti, meanwhile, is preparing his Everton side for their Premier League showdown with West Ham on Sunday (4:30pm).
