Jesse Lingard had a watch ‘stolen from his locker’ during a game on loan from Manchester United for West Ham, according to reports.
The forward was playing a home game for the Hammers during their 1-0 loss to Everton on May 9 when his prized watch was reportedly taken.
The Englishman called in the cops, who were reportedly unable to find the possession, after staff had searched throughout the dressing room.
A Hammers spokesperson told The Sun: “The incident happened a month ago and the club took all appropriate steps at the time.
“While we will continue to assist with the matter, we are unable to comment further as this is now part of an ongoing police investigation.”
Metropolitan Police added: “Police are investigating a burglary at the London Stadium. It was reported that a watch was stolen from a changing room on the afternoon or evening of Sunday May 9.”
The Premier League side are uncertain how the thief managed to break into the heavily-guarded London Stadium.
Lingard has spent the season on loan from United since January, scoring nine goals and making five assists.
He has been named in Gareth Southgate’s preliminary England squad for this summer’s Euro 2020 following his fine run of form.
His future is up in the air with Lingard having returned to Old Trafford following the end of the season.
Though he was full of praises for his time at West Ham, writing on Instagram: “What a way to end the season.
“Reaching our goal with this incredible group of lads feels amazing! We pushed hard and never gave up!
“I feel so lucky to have been able to come into such a welcoming environment, everyone connected with the club has shown me just how special this club is.
“So thank you to the gaffer who had the belief in bringing me here. Thank you to all the staff that made it so easy for me to settle and embed into the club so quickly. Thank you to the coaches who helped me find my true self back on the pitch.
“Thank you to the fans who supported me from the second I arrived, It was amazing being able to play in front of you on the last day!
“And thank you to a special group of lads, as well as making some new lifelong friends training and playing with you all has been one of the highlights of my career!
“Whatever the future holds West Ham United will hold a special place in my heart!”
