Everton are rumoured to be weighing up alternative targets to Max Aarons after talks to bring the highly-rated full-back to Goodison Park from Norwich ended without success.
According to Fabrizio Romano, football correspondent for The Guardian and Sky Sports Italia, there is no chance of the 21-year-old joining his former team-mate Ben Godfrey at Everton amid whispers the club balked at the £30m asking price.
In the meantime, there is renewed talk in interest from Marcel Brands in Lille right-back Zeki Çelik who has been linked with the Blues before.
Ridle Baku of Wolfsburg is another name that has been bandied about in connection with Everton but there is, as yet, no reliable speculation suggesting he is a solid target for the club.

Im glad that hopefully Everton are scoping various players for RB, and not going straight in on Aarons.
This summer will fly over and Marcel and his team will it seems, have their work cut out to fill this requirement amongst several other positions in the squad.
This might end up like when wanted Tierney as Baines replacement but bulked at the price. If the cheaper alternative to Aarons ends up anywhere near as good Digne was at LB then we’ll have a great signing. My choice would be Ridle Baku.
There will be a net spend that Brands will have to work to and 30 million for a right back probably doesnt fit into the plan.
The major investment will be on the right winger/forward and an attacking midfielder. The team needs goals.
If they are turning their back on signing Aarons it tells me that Brands has got a few irons in the fire that he rates as highly but will cost less.
Moise Kean will be sold to help funding and I think there will be one or two more regulars sold. Richarlison? He alluded last year to giving it one more year, he may want the move if one of the big continental clubs comes in. Mina too may want to move on and we may accept to get a quicker, quality CB in. If these nuclear options come to pass we will be looking at a very different Everton for 21/22.
Brands also needs to move on Bernard and Delph who are massive earners but contribute very little. Gomes and Iwobi are on long contracts so they may be more difficult. Sigurdsson contributes more than those four and Id keep him in the squad, unless we get a decent fee.
Its going to be a big summer for us, the Rumour Mill will be working overtime.
Yet we were quite happy to blow £30m on a complete waste of space like Iwobi, or countless millions on garbage like Tosun, Walcott and Bolasie? What a joke of a club. Well opt for the cheapest (5th choice) option and spend another decade trying to sort our right side out.
If Brands doesnt deliver this summer, and not a few TDD panic buys then he needs to go.
olin you reflect my view entirely.
We baulk at 60m plus players and then wonder why we cant make the top 4.
Go for the best in every position we are trying to fill or just give the kids a chance.
The Delphs, Iwobis and Gomes of this worls are nowhere near good enough to get us among the elite and are a major drain on the wage bill.
Why would you want more of that and not a few top class additions instead.
Zeki Celic is no better than JJK. Does simple tackles well, has occasional pile driver shots that go in once a year on average to supplement his average of two assists. Not particularly quick. Why bother, JJK is already here if thats the level we are looking for. I thought wed set our sights higher
