South American soccer body CONMEBOL are now actively seeking an alternative host and have said an announcement on a new venue will be made “soon”.

The Reds will reconvene for training on July 12, although any player involved in international competition will be given several weeks off after their involvement has been concluded.

The latest Copa America has been beset with problems. It was initially supposed to take place last summer but was postponed for 12 months due to the pandemic.
And Colombia was then dropped as a tournament co-host on May 20 amid a wave of anti-government protests.

The Selecao are then due to play Ecuador again in their Copa America group, along with Venezuela, Peru and Colombia.
