Mohamed Salah has been advised to remain at Liverpool unless he receives an offer from either Barcelona or Real Madrid.
The Egypt international has a contract until the summer of 2023 with the Reds, and recently said he wants to stay and continue to break records with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
But speaking in December of last year, Salah also sounded open to the potential of playing in La Liga one day when asked about the prospect by a Spanish newspaper.
That theme then continued during an interview with another Spanish publication, Marca, before his side’s Champions League tie with Real Madrid.
The forward described the Spanish side, and their arch-rivals Barcelona, as two ‘great’ clubs, but his boss later played down any transfer talk surrounding the 28-year-old.
But speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Manchester United last month, Salah explained he is yet to hold contract talks with the Anfield club.
“No one is talking to me about anything, I can’t say much about that, ” he said when asked about a contract extension. “No one at the club talked to me about anything, so I don’t know.”
However, former Arsenal goalkeeper Rami Shaaban believes the forward should remain at Anfield unless the La Liga pair come knocking.

The ex-Swedish international, whose father is Egyptian, told OnTime Sport TV : “It is better for Salah to continue with Liverpool.
“Liverpool fans love Salah, I want Salah to continue with the club even if he receives an offer from Paris Saint-Germain because the competition in England is stronger than in France.
“The situation will be different in one case, which is if he receives an offer from a team in the Spanish League, and we’re talking here about Real Madrid or Barcelona.
“I wish Salah would’ve joined Arsenal before moving to Chelsea, Salah’s style suits Arsenal.”
